I have been in business for several decades and I have learned quite early on that my inspirational and most productive time comes and goes in a normal week. I felt that the 80-20 rule resonated in that 20% of your time achieves at least 80% of your meaningful work. I appreciate that there are many jobs that require time to complete and time out pondering is not really possible.

So really what I m talking about is leaders, those who have to produce creativity day in and day out and those who have to draw up strategies and make decisions which affect many others. Inspiration is not something you can just roll up your sleeves for, it is not an unlimited reservoir you can tap between 9am and 5pm Monday to Friday.

“I remind myself about life, about me and then I normally smile and realise life is good and I m re energised”

I believe that the most effective leaders are ones who know when they need to take time out, when they do not need to be involved in things, how to free up their minds to take a mental rest and allow others to take lead when it is the right thing to do.

A beautiful mind that can work out a marketplace, help shape a companies future, prepared to put a reputation on the line for a decision they believe in and loves what they do should also take care of that mind.

So what do I like to do, well I when I lack inspiration or I feel low I will pack up my awful looking camper van throw a surfboard and basketball in the back and bugger off for a day and a night away from everyone and everything. I will stop and take in the beauty all around me that a busy person can miss. I remind myself about life, about me and then I normally smile and realise life is good and I m re energised :)
